How to layer your favorite perfumes for your signature scent

As we wait for that day though, there is this great little thing known as fragrance cocktailing that will not only give you that signature scent that you desire but save you a couple of coins.

Besides no one wants to smell the same as everybody else anyway.

Here’s how to mix your favorite fragrances to achieve the perfect scent made for you and by you.

Have your favorite scents laid out then figure out what element about those scents you enjoy the most.

Is it the muskiness or the flowery scent they have? Whichever the case, always identify your favorites element about them before mixing them together.

Once you identify then you can mix the fragrances that complement each other to come up with a good scent.

You can ask an expert at your local perfume store to help you figure out the different types of perfume scents.

Pick fragrances that have similar scents

The number one rule when it comes to layering scents is to make sure that they the scents that are being layered are in the same family.

If they scent is flowery then flowery scents together, musky scents with musky scents and a like.

This does not limit you from layering scents from different families however but for beginner’s sake it would be best to master layering first before branching into mixing scents from different scent families.

You can mix different types of perfumes/colognes

Eau de toilettes and eau de perfumes can be mixed together. Lower concentration fragrances such as eau de toilettes usually disappear faster so they can impact the final result.

Don’t rub your wrists together

Spray the perfume scents on top of each other and allow them to mix together on their own.

If you rub your wrists together after applying the perfume, it kills the great notes of the perfume that having little effect of what you are trying to achieve.

Think about the complexity of the fragrance

This is in terms of the texture and intensity.

Opt to pair fragrances that have great complexity with lighter ones.
