Tactics Kenyans have deployed to skip the long Elections queues
As we go to vote, Kenyans, creative as usual, have deployed strategies to avoid the long queues.
As expected, the queues are very long and knowing how impatient Kenyans get, there will definitely be a number of shenanigans going on to try and skip the line.
has compiled a list of the funniest things Kenyans will do to make sure they get ahead of the queues.
Pretending to be Pregnant

A number of women will pretend to be pregnant to entice sympathy from other people who will allow them to go and vote.
Everyone knows that you cannot leave a pregnant woman standing in the queue for long just because you arrived at the polling station early.
Well, some of those pregnant women aren’t really pregnant and probably just have a nicely bundle of clothes under their outfits.
Having their children queuing for them
Having children queuing on someone’s behalf does not only apply to the banking halls but applies during the Election queues.

The child will innocently queue in place of their parents/guardians until they get nearer to the front before their parents join them.
Using toddlers
Some Kenyans have gone as far as bringing toddlers to the queue and begging the people at the front to allow them to go ahead of them.
They play at people’s empathetic nature and a lot of Kenyans have actually succeeded at this.
Some people use the little kids that are usually hanging outside the polling stations as their own so that they can fool people on the queues.

Speaking to the officers at the front of the queues
A section of Kenyans who deem themselves wise will pretend to be speaking to the officers at the front asking irrelevant questions. i.e, whether they are on the right queues when they know they are.
When they are done speaking with the officers, they will linger around the front of the line before the eventually sneak and line at the front.
Starting an argument in the middle of the queue
Some Kenyans will deliberately start arguments in the middle of queues and get other people involved in the argument.

Once the other people get heated up with their argument, the quietly queue ahead of them leaving them fighting on their own.
Shame.
Pretending they are hurt or disabled
Some Kenyans might come with a crutch or wheel chair to act as if disabled or hurt in order to to be allowed to go directly to vote.
