The Glitz Style Awards is always an avenue to channel one's inner fashion sense and do whatever they want. It’s style, right?

Just like some of the ridiculous stuff we see at Chale Wote is branded as art! Yeah, said it! Now back to Glitz.

2017’s edition of the Glitz Style Awards took place on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.

Celebrities and people in the fashion industry came in their numbers as every thread in their clothing mattered under the spotlight light of the red carpet.

Style mattered. Presentation mattered. Basically, here are # things we saw at the 2017 Glitz Style Awards.

Samira Bawumia is a true fashion and style icon

Forget your political background and let everyone agree Samira Bawumia is bae. And bae in every sense of the word as millennials use these days.

The Second Lady could be handpicked from the numerous number of people in the conference room as her style stood out.

She wants to make an impact by what she puts in people’s lives but confessions at the event proved that children across Africa are taking inspiration from her dressing.

Now, that’s style.

John Dumelo tried too much

As the MC of the show, Dumelo tried too much to steal the show.

Maybe conversations and shouts from the audience about a certain ‘stolen V8’ could explain that stealing may probably be a habit but the Glitz Style Awards 2017 wasn’t his show to steal.

That forced selfie with Samira Buwumia (twice), his ‘ahohyehy3’ with Toke Makinwa, asking how he looked after changing his outfit and a very unnecessary off key sing to Akwaboa’s piano were way high above the limit of goofy allowed.

However, John was good at speeding things up so everyone could go home. Still ended very late though.

King Promise has just one hit song … somebody tell him

Oh Yeah!

You know how an artiste gets on stage to sing like a thousand song to promote his other tracks but everyone’s waiting for just that one hit song?

Oh Yeah! Exactly.

Ghanaian comedians should try harder

Comedian OB was at the Glitz Style Awards to make people laugh and it’s fair to say he did very good. Not excellent.

But here’s the problem.

For a fashion show, jokes should normally revolve around that theme. It’s a commandment in the Bible of comedians.

However, OB’s jokes around that were too dry.

The doctor, who does comedy had to recover and tell tales of ‘picking a trotro’ before the audience started laughing.

Celebrities don’t like the red on the red carpet anymore … or?

There are red carpet slay queens. No names, please.

But maybe these slay queens are raising the bar high for people on the red carpet when it comes to the normal stand, flash, move, next kind of taking photos.

Most celebrities we saw at the event were basically following their photographers around to take pictures anywhere but the red carpet.

The entire Movenpick Ambassador Hotel looked like a photo booth.

Wutah’s ‘Bronya’ is the biggest song in Ghana right now

Yaa Baby, don’t argue this.

Whether you booze or not, it’s a great song and their performance everywhere pulls the crowd. Even at Glitz, where the people who attend are kind of, you know.

And ow, Wutah says thanks to y’all. They say your prayers brought them back together.

Ghanaians love fashion

When given the freedom, people will go to any extent to show their inner fashion guru. The red carpet proved the point.
