About Kachumbari
Kachumbari is a fresh tomato and onion salad that is popular in East Africa, particularly in Kenya, but also in Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda.
It is a popular salad dish consisting of chopped tomatoes, onions and chilli peppers and salt to taste. In Latin America, it is a variation of pico de gallo or salsa fresca.
Kachumbari is a Swahili word that originated from Indian word Koshumburi or Kachumber.
