Bhajias are a common Swahili food enjoyed by a lot of Kenyans.

Not only are they tasty but the simplicity in preparing them has made the food popular in a lot of homes.

Here is a simple bhajia recipe that you should definitely try out.

Ingredients

Potatoes

Gram flour

Turmeric powder

Chilli powder

Ginger

Garlic

Coriander

Water

Oil

 

Process

1.Peel potatoes and slice them into thin slices

2.Crush the ginger and garlic in a pestle and mortar

3.In a bowl, add the garlic and ginger paste to gram flour along with the turmeric, chilli powder and coriander; mix them together.

4.Gradually pour water in the mixture, stirring until you achieve a thick batter – not too thick though.

5.Heat oil in a pan.

6.Dip potato slices in the batter then add them in the heated oil to fry.

7.Fry the potatoes until golden brown on both sides.

8.Serve with ketchup and enjoy.
