Janet Mbugua finally speaks on Jeff Koinange forcing her out of Citizen TV

One of the top stories was that veteran journalist Jeff Koinange, who recently joined Citizen TV, was the reason behind her shift.

Appearing on K24Alfajiri, Ms. Mbugua told show host Amina Abdi that the claims were false and it was ‘sad’ that was what the blogs were perpetrating.

She noted that her decision to move was made before Mr. Koinange joined Citizen TV, hence, the allegations could not be true.

“That was just sad because the decision was made way before Jeff  joined so it could not be true.

“It had nothing to do with anyone. It was just about me. I am trying to figure Janet out and spend time with family,” she highlighted.

The anchor noted that the weirdest of the stories she read over her move was that she was vying for a Senatorial seat.

She divulged that the information reached her mother who questioned why she was hiding things from the family.

Other also inidcated that she was pregnant and that was why she left Citizen TV.

The mother of one indicated that her move was personal, she felt burnt out and needed to take a break.

“It is just a break. As boring as it may sound, It is simply a transition,” Ms. Mbugua noted.

Janet added that she will be back on the screen but maintained that she was not aware when this will happen.

However, she stated that she loves TV and she will be on TV until she is 90.

"I love television, i love what it has done for me," she mentioned.
