Nederburg, one of South Africa's most awarded wineries with a prize-winning pedigree has a magnificent manor house built in the 1800s which is adored as one of the finest examples of Cape Dutch architecture; it has even been declared a national monument.

Philippus Wolvaart, the founder of the brand, introduced many exciting innovations, including noble late harvest wines. Among his legendary dessert wine is Edelkeur that was released during the Nederburg Auction of Rare Cape wines in 1975 and is still offered exclusively through this channel. He was the first person in South Africa to win the coveted International Wine & Spirit Competition's Robert Mondavi International Winemaker of the Year Award in 1985. Nederburg enjoys an admired title as the most successful wine producer on the prestigious Old Mutual Trophy Show, earning two five-star ratings in the Platter's South African Wine Guide, as well as two more trophies on the International Wine & Spirit Competition.

Samuel Viljoen who is in the country for a week is scheduled to visit the South Africa High Commission on Wednesday before he embarks on his Mombasa tour where he is expected to train chefs across that region and wrap up the week with a treat of wine tasting and pairing at Sarova, Whitesands Beach Hotel.
