Kenyans have taken up the craze of sports betting so much that even the government wanted a piece of the pie. According to Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), over 1 trillion Kenyan shillings are being transacted in terms of sports betting.
Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Bob Collymore said that sports betting has overtaken everyone else in terms of mobile money. This means that sports betting contributes to most of the traffic on mobile money due to its convenience. It is as easy as placing a bet at the comfort of your device. When you win a bet you deposit the money into your mobile money account then.
Sportpesa is undoubtedly the biggest sports betting site in Kenya. They have made headway as the pioneer of sports betting in the Kenyan Market. Their success has led them to be the sponsors of many local teams and football leagues in Kenya. Apart from that they have spread their wings to the international scene by being official sponsors of the Hull City and Everton football clubs in the English Premier League.
They also saw the formation of a Kenyan all-star football team which comprises some of the country’s finest footballers. The 11 member team flew to England for a friendly match against Hull City at KCOM Stadium all courtesy of Sportpesa. Hull city won by a slim 2-1 victory.

We therefore examine the Sportpesa App which was launched in 2016 to see if it has lived up to the hype.
First you need to download the app either on Sportpesa website or Google Playstore. You will be required to log in. Having logged in, you will see the highlights of the day. Sportpesa will highlight the big games of the day from all leagues including the Kenya, English, UEFA Champions Leagues, Bundes Liga and La Liga just to mention a few.
According to the users of the app, many praise it for being simple to use. The predictions are 70 per cent accurate while the winning chances are praised to have reached 90 per cent. The users also give it a nod for giving adequate information about select matches.
According to the play store reviews, users ask the app developers to improve the app by including predictions for the next day.
However users have to endure the many notorious advertisements.

Sportpesa has more to do in order to meet the hype and praise that it has received.
