Kenya Airlines Pilots Association (Kalpa) had wanted an overhaul of the airline’s top brass citing lack of confidence.
KQ pilots exude confidence in Michael Joseph, call off strike
The recent management changes done at Kenya Airways have received a positive response from its pilots as they withdrew their strike notice which it had deferred last month.
They initially wanted both the KQ chairman of the board and its Chief Executive Officer, Mbuvi Ngunze to leave, but only succeeded in having Dennis Awori replaced by ex-Safaricom boss Michael Joseph,
However, Kalpa’s executive council said based on the progress on specific issues the association raised, they were confident the recent developments will positively impact the airline’s recovery efforts.
KQ last week posted a Sh4.7 billion loss in half year results ended September 30, 2016 down from Sh11.9billion posted in the same period last year.

The airline also recorded a Sh0.9 billion operating profit for the first six months ended September 30, compared to an operating loss of Sh2.2 billion in the previous period.
