#tembeakenya with Sandmat Safaris 3 days, 2 nights trip to the beautiful Ilkeliani Camp in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve 10th - 12th March

We know camping is a fantastic activity, but when you add glamour to camping you get glampimg. Glamping combines the outdoors and adventure with luxury, comfort and most of all the delight of connecting with nature.

But that’s just the start, Glamping is also known for a whole range of wonderful health benefits starting with physical benefits and moving on to mental benefits. This provides even more reason for you to want to spend more nights under the stars, giving you an experience not soon to be forgotten.

Before we can get to the camping part of this trip, let’s not forget the road trip from Nairobi to Maasai Mara that will see us making several pit stops along the way. Open road and new towns that you have probably never visited before, how can you say no to that?

Ilkeliani Camp

Nestled in a river glade in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, the area is a favorite for elephants coming to drink from the Talek River. The camp has been designed to combine the old traditional safari style with a modern and fresh feel.

Ilkeliani Camp offers only 17 tents and each commanding views of the plains and the wildlife action throughout the day. It is a permanent camp designed along eco-friendly principles. The ethos is to leave a minimum foot print on nature.

Maasai Mara Game Reserve

This evocatively beautiful expanse of open plains mottled with woodlands prompted the local Maasai to give the area its name. Mara means “mottled.”

This incredible and most spectacular eco-systems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing eco-system is situated in the Great Rift Valley and is Kenya’s largest national reserve with an area of 320 square km.

The Maasai Mara remains most famous for its annual migration: Undoubtedly one of the most extraordinary natural events and nothing short of spectacular occurrences on the planet; the Great Migration involves a mass movement of ungulates, most notably the wildebeest and also zebras make their way into the migration.
