The report shows that despite Kenya being the largest economy in East Africa; millions are still languishing in poverty without any tangible economic activity.

Countless youth in the country have unsuccessfully sent their curriculum vitaes to various organization seeking for a job.

Mr. Ireri disclosed that small aspects of the CV could lock out a job applicant at the first stage adding that paying attention to the nitty gritties was very important.

Here are top 5 mistakes on your CV that could be locking you out:

1. Flow

A CV which does not have a proper flow will be thrown into the dustbin even before your qualifications can be seen.

Mr Ireri mentioned that a well flowing CV was attractive and would engage any human resource person going through it.

2. Formatting

When preparing your CV make sure that the format you use is consistent from the first page to the last one.

Also, choose an appropriate formatting style that is appealing to the eye.

Ireri also advised job seekers to pick the spacing option that will ensure their CV is well-balanced.

3. Omission

The biggest mistake you could do on your résumé is omitting important information such as educational and professional background as well as referees, Ireri mentions.

Omitting referees would possibly raise suspicions on your credibility.

4. Template-like CVs

Getting a template on the internet and pasting your details on it could lock you out from that job interview.

Mr. Ireri stated that a more personalized CV was more appealing to HRs and a job applicant with such could get the interview call.

5. Spelling mistakes

Glaring spelling mistakes are unacceptable in your CV. Use a spelling checker to remove any mistake or a grammar software to correct any grammatical errors.

So there you go, make the changes and send the CV again.
