How Boda Boda rider tricked his way past security to give Uhuru special gift

He had always wanted to give Uhuru his gift since the 2013 general election.

President Uhuru Kenyatta receives a Bible on Fathers' Day, from Kimende boda boda rider Destiny Gitau, at St Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiambu town, June 18, 2017.

Gitau had a rare chance to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta face-to-face and present him with a special Father’s Day gift.

Gitau, a Boda Boda rider from Kimende had always wanted to give Kenyatta a copy of his Gideon’s Bible which he was given by a friend after the 2013 general election.

The President is heavily guarded round the clock as the country’s head of state; a situation which is increased whenever he is on the campaign trail.

It had to take an ingenious way for him to finally award president his gift.

According to The Star, during Kenyatta’s visit to the county, Gitau got his chance when the President visited St Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiambu Town last Sunday.

Clad in a smart black suit, Gitau pretended he was one of the leaders accompanying the president and sat just two rows behind Kenyatta.

“I was smartly dressed in a black suit and a maroon tie. I pretended I was a leader. When the President arrived, I was among those he greeted. I followed other leaders and sat behind him," he said.

After Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto addressed the worshipers, a confident Gitau approached the father-in-charge, his Gideon's Bible clutched firmly by his side and handed it over to him.

After the service, the father announced "Mr President, we have a pastor who wants to give you a present’. But before he finished, I took the Bible and the President came...we shook hands and he took it."

The moment he had finally yearned for over four years finally came to be as he got the chance to deliver is gift and chat with the President.

A still enthusiastic Gitau said he is still patiently waiting for the President's call as Kenyatta had requested for his contact details.
