#ElectionsKE Calm in Eldoret after Buzeki humbly concedes defeat to Mandago

Uasi Gishu headquarters, is calm and orderly hours after President Kenyatta was declared winner in the just concluded presidential elections even as isolated incidents of protests has been reported across the country.

Eldoret town remained calm and quiet after night-long celebrations on Friday for Uhuru's re-election.

Meanwhile, Businessman, Zedekiah Kiprop Bundotich popularly known as  Buzeki has conceded defeat to his main political rival, Jackson Mandago in the Uasi Gishu gubernatorial race.

Buzeki running as an independent candidate had hoped to unseat incumbent Mandago running under the Jubilee ticket.

The wealthy business man thanked all those who turned up to vote for him on August 8.

"I am so grateful to those who backed me. Although we did not make it, the battle continues," he said on Saturday.

Buzeki garnered 148,121 votes in the final tally, compared to Mandago who garnered 193,606 votes to retain his seat according to IEBC results.

Mandago on the other hand extended an olive branch to Buzeki and said they should work together to unite county residents after a fiercely contested race.

"Political competition is not enmity. We have to embrace one another and move on because if you lose, there is always another chance," the governor-elect added.

He added that he benefited from support from both NASA and Jubilee camps, noting that political differences should not cause divisions among Kenyans.

The governor elect has also congratulated President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto on their re-election saying Jubilee had done well in the last term to deserve another one.

"We should celebrate our victory in peace and we should ensure we remain united as communities in this region," Mandago told residents.
