America’s GREATEST enemy to be cremated after dying peacefully

There have been more than 600 documented attempts by the CIA to kill Fidel Castro over decades, but interestingly the Cuban revolutionary leader died a natural death yesterday.

For starters, Fidel Castro was US enemy number one for decades; the CIA tried to kill him a zillion times but he just kept on defying death.

US hatred for Castro was as a result of Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962; a 13-day military standoff between US and Russia when the world was at the brink of extinction as the two superpowers threatened each other with nuclear weapons.

Fidel allowed Russia to install nuclear-armed Soviet missiles in Cuba, some 144 kilometers from US coast of Florida.

When President John Kennedy learnt about the Russian missiles in Cuba, he enacted a naval blockade around the Caribbean island nation and made it clear the US was prepared to use military force if necessary to neutralize the threat to its national security.

Soviet leader, Nikita Khrushchev, offered to remove the Cuban missiles in exchange for the US promising not to invade Cuba. Kennedy also secretly agreed to remove US missiles from Turkey. From there henceforth, US tried to covertly kill Fidel Castro. America imposed economic embargo on Cuba for 52 years until 2015 when US restored diplomatic relations with the island. Barack Obama became the first sitting US President in 88 years to travel Cuba, he landed in Havana in March 2016.

History aside, Fidel Castro died yesterday November 25 aged 90 years. Castro stepped down as Cuban president in 2008, his younger brother, Raúl Castro, succeeded him.

"The commander in chief of the Cuban revolution died at 22:29 hours this evening,” Raúl announced Fidel’s death.

President Castro told the nation in a late night broadcast on state television that Fidel Castro had died and would be cremated on Saturday.

It’s not clear why they chose to burn Fidel’s body instead of burying him.
