After nullifying the presidential results of the August 8 General Election, Kenyans affiliated to the National Super Alliance (NASA) praised Maraga while those of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party angrily castigated him.
Mr Kenyatta was also caught on tape calling the CJ and three other Supreme Court judges who supported the nullification - wakoras (crooks).
But after the historic ruling, Maraga has been going about his normal duties despite the political tension the judgment plunged the nation into. He has been opening up new courts, presiding over official events, issuing instructions at the Judiciary among other duties.

However, four things CJ Maraga has been spotted doing has caught some Kenyans by surprise.
The first was his appearance at Uhuru Park during the Mashujaa Day celebrations on October 20, 2017.
Many were keen to see if he would show up as it marked his initial public meeting with Mr Kenyatta after the court ruling which undeniably angered the latter.
As his National duty dictates, Maraga was at the Park’s podium to celebrate Mashujaa Day. Mr Kenyatta and his DP William Ruto shook hands with the CJ when they arrived at the venue.
Secondly, Maraga was conspicuously missing during the opening of the 12th Parliament by Mr Kenyatta days after the nullification.

The Judiciary section remained empty on the day of the controversial ceremony which many leaders from the Opposition termed illegal.
According to the CJ's Assistant Mundia Muchiri, Mr Maraga never received an invite.
Thirdly, was on October 26, 2017, the day for the repeat presidential election.
Maraga went to cast his vote and this action shocked many. Pictures capturing the Chief Justice and his wife casting their votes were shared widely on social media with many giving their diverse opinions.
Maraga who was simply demonstrating his constitutional right of voting proved not be on the side of Opposition leader Raila Odinga who asked his supporters to boycott the polls.

The latest action by Mr. Maraga to attend the 100th year Anniversary of the Anglican Church at All Saint Cathedral was also a remarkable one. Not his mere presence but the fact that he shared the same bench with President Kenyatta during the ceremony.
The CJ definitely knows how to keep off businesses that do not concern him.
