Raila gets boost after NGOs latest move

The support comes even after the NASA team vowed to boycott elections.

The words of NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga have received a major boost after a conglomerate of civil societies and the religious organisations are now supporting calls for the overhaul of the IEBC staff that will be conducting the next polls.

Under the ‘ umbrella, the combined teams now argue that subject to the manipulation of the technology that was used in the transmission of the bungled election results, the IEBC team that took part in the process should be dismissed.

“The technology was manipulated. And these officers were not acting alone, they must have acted ion the instructions of a political player and there is only one beneficiary to defraud the Kenyan people,” NASA Chief Executive officer Norman Magaya told a joint seating in a Nairobi hotel.

The group is now calling for the eminent sacking of all the officers who were involved in the exercise ahead of the repeat elections. This is the same call the Raila Odinga led team has been pushing for since the Supreme Court ruling that annulled the reelection of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

On her part, Africa Centre of Governance (AFRICOG) Executive Director Gladwell Otieno maintained that the new changes must take effect before any elections is held.

“To ensure a smooth exercise, the commission must immediately effect these changes to the members of staff who are perceived to have been implicated,” Mrs Otieno said.

Meanwhile in a raft of measures to guard the will of the people, NASA presidential candidate and his team has prolonged its list of demands to the polls team IEBC even as the scheduled meeting between the two parties backfired.
