After his appearance before Milimani High Court Judge James Wakiaga, Andrew Rono, 60, will now be being detained for 14 more days.
Mr Rono now wants the number of days in custody to be reduced.
However, in a rejoinder, the prosecution asked the court for more time to respond to the suspect’s application.
The judge granted the request and directed the prosecution to respond to the suspect’s request on September 4.
According to police, the suspect was in constant communication with Msando.
The suspect, also said to be Ngumbu’s landlord, was arrested early this month in connection with the murder.
Police said he is linked to threats to Msando.
It is alleged he had been in constant communication with Msando and Ngumbu before the torture-murder.
In late July, Msando was found murdered in a thicket in Kiambu county alongside Ngumbu, 21.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating if the suspect had a hand in the murder of Msando and Ngumbu in late July.
Mr Msando was a key figure in IEBC system security and publicly said the system was impregnable.
