Protests break out over Governor Ngilu as angry youth torch vehicle

This comes a day after youths blocked the Nakuru-Nairobi highway

Protests broke out on Tuesday over Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu’s alleged earlier orders as angry youths torched a vehicle.

The Probox which was transporting charcoal was torched in Mwingi town by angry youths.

This comes just a day after angry youths in Limuru blocked the busy Nairobi-Nakuru Highway protesting an incident in Kitui County earlier in the month where a lorry transporting charcoal was set ablaze allegedly on orders from Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu.

The youths were calling for Ngilu's arrest.

It is alleged that the Governor had earlier issued an order banning the export of charcoal from the county to other counties as she called for a crackdown on anybody found burning or ferrying charcoal from Kitui saying that charcoal burning was destroying the environment.
