Case where IEBC Official wrongly entered Uhuru’s votes takes new twist

Interesting details emerge...

Ms. Wahome entered into a scuffle with Kandara Returning Officer Martin Malonza after he allegedly entered President Uhuru Kenyatta votes wrongly.

A case was filed against the presiding officer who was supposedly responsible for the major mistake, which saw Kenyatta’s votes entered as those of Independent Presidential candidate Japheth Kaluyu.

John Kiguru, who was in charge of Kiiri Primary School polling station, was taken to court for being the source of the unlawful data entry.

On Thursday, however, the prosecution told Murang’a court to postpone Kiguru’s pleas for a period of one month.

According to the prosecutor Solomon Njeru, a probe had been opened against Kandara lawmaker following the scuffle.

Mr. Njeru argued that he needed one month to conclude investigations of the conduct of the MP who is accused of harassing Kandara Constituency Returning Officer Mr. Malonza.

“I have instructions from Director of Public Prosecutions that the plea be deferred for a month to ensure that parallel investigation against the MP Alice Wahome to be completed since I have been directed that both files be placed before me,” the prosecutor said.

Kiguru was released on free bond with one similar surety of Sh 500000.

His plea was rescheduled to December 5, 2017.
