NASA Chief Strategist 'proposes' Uhuru to take Polygraph test

NASA Chief Strategist and Economist David Ndii on Thursday mischievously questioned whether President Uhuru Kenyatta would be undergoing the proposed polygraph test.

Ndii’s assertions come days after President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered all procurement and accounting officers in government ministries and parastatals to undergo fresh vetting, which is set to use the lie-detector machine.

According to the Economist, the Head of State ought to be asked questions regarding the infamous Eurobond fund where over Sh100 Billion could not be accounted for by the National Treasury.

In 2015, former Prime Minister pushed the Government to come clean on the whereabouts of the funds which he alleged were misappropriated.

However, Treasury Cabinet secretary Henry Rotich dismissed the claims noting that no money was lost. He even invited Mr. Odinga to inspect the documents at the Treasury.

In January 2018, Auditor General Edward Ouko said that auditing to the Eurobond Fund was still ongoing.

Public Accounts Committee instructed Mr. Ouko to conduct a special audit but two years down the line it is yet to receive the report.

President Kenyatta's directive to have officers undergo polygraph test has been met with a lot of controversies with legal minds stating that the procedure is not admissible in a court of law.

At the same time, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo wondered how the test will be conducted in a legal manner.

"Wondering loudly- when did we acquire lie detectors? Parliament must pass legislation to anchor this innovation," he said.
