New DCI Boss George Kinoti given 1st task since taking office

The New DCI swings into action

The DCI boss has been tasked to probe into the allegations of Rape and harassment of Patients at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

“I will personally supervise the investigations. The allegations made against the hospital staff are serious and we have to get to the bottom of them,” Mr Kinoti stated.

On Sunday, the DCI boss held a meeting  with the hospital management and security personnel, to strategise on how the investigations will be conducted.

According to Kinoti, his team is comprised of seasoned investigators from different formations under the DCI, and others from the Gender and Children Department of the police.

The team would also analyse the hospital’s security systems, with the aim of unveiling the threats, risks and challenges that exist.

“After this, we will give a comprehensive recommendation to the hospital management with an aim of enhancing the security systems,” said Mr Kinoti.

He added that any employee found to have been involved in any crime at Kenya’s largest referral hospital will be arrested and prosecuted.

Pulselive.co.ke called the hospital to probe the claims while other media houses retrieved CCTV footage and interrogated workers at the hospital.

A police officer, privy to the investigations, said the officers were also scrutinising allegations that the whistle-blower of the rape allegations against the hospital had tried to extort money from the management of KNH.

This comes after KNH CEO Lily Koros was summoned to appear before the Parliamentary Committee on Health, after reports spread like bush fire that breastfeeding mothers were being raped at the facility.

Ms. Koros is expected to give a report of the investigations that was launched after the rape allegations came to light.
