Worrying details emerge on what GSU officers did before Meru University leader was killed

Post-mortem results indicated that Njoroge was shot with a gun pressed against his head.

Outspoken lawyer, Nelson Havi who is representing the family in the case to find justice for Njoroge, revealed that a heavy contingent of GSU police were deployed to the institution on the day the student leader was shot dead.

The lawyer also disclosed that the police officer who pulled the trigger was known and identified by name.

"A contingent of 50 GSU policemen from Meru County were deployed to Meru University on the day Evans Njoroge was murdered. The killer has been positively identified as Kiptanui. Why would JBoinnet claim he doesn’t know him, unless he is covering up? JusticeforEvansNjoroge," Havi tweeted.

The lawyer further appealed to the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to charge the rogue officer, Kiptanui, who is stationed in Meru with murder and gave the police boss seven days to take action.

The report showed that the student leader was shot through the back of the head and the bullet exited through the ear causing instant death.

Earlier this week, Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed sent Meru University Vice Chancellor Japheth Magambo on terminal leave pending expiry of his term in June.

Mohamed, who was accompanied by Education PS Micheni Ntiba, called on police to fast-track investigations into the killing of the student leader.
