Court finally decides petition against Nyong’o, judge orders Sh2.5 million fine

The Kisumu High Court has finally settled the petition challenging Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o election as Governor of Kisumu County.

Nyong’o was taken to court by his predecessor, Jack Ranguma who claimed that the election was marred by numerous election irregularities.

However, Justice David Majanja dismissed the petition and ordered Ranguma to pay Sh5 Million as costs for the suit.

The judge stated that the petitioner failed to show evidence that supported his claims of ballot stuffing and hacking of the electronic transmission system.

The current Kisumu Governor was represented by Senior Counsel James Orengo, who is also the Siaya Senator.

At one point during the petition, a man claiming to be an employee of a local telecommunication shocked the court after admitting that he has hacked the IEBC servers.

The alleged IT expert further stated that he had found evidence showing that the votes had been manipulated in favour of Nyong’o.

Ranguma has now stated that he is considering to move to the Court of Appeal to have the decision reversed.
