Tension in Nakuru as Jubilee supporters block entry

The traffic heading to Nakuru is at standstill

An eye witness has told Pulse Live that there is huge traffic that has piled up in the entry in the Jubilee Party bedrock, even as the anti-Supreme Court demos spread across Eldoret, Nairobi and Nyeri due to road closure at Zambezi on Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

On Tuesday, Jubilee Party supporters thronged major streets in Nakuru, Eldoret, Nyeri and Nairobi to protest, demanding for the immediate eviction from office two Supreme Court Justices who have been accused of having had closed door meetings with some of the National Super Alliance lawyers during the Presidential petition last month.

Waving placards, the demonstrators, mostly youth accused the judges of rendering an illegal judgment.

They said the court should have ordered for a recount of the votes following a petition filed by the Nasa coalition after President Uhuru Kenyatta was declared winner of the August 8 election. The demo was held as Kenyans await the full judgment of the court.

Meanwhile, an explosive petition against two Supreme Court judges has come to light exposing how NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga’s lawyers secretly met with the duo before the ruling annulling the presidential results in the just concluded General Election.

The petition filed by Derrick Malika Ngumu, the executive director of Angaza empowerment Network in Mombasa, seeks to remove Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu and Justice Isaac Lenaola from office.

According to the petitioner, Mwilu and Lenaola met severally with Senior Counsel James Orengo and lawyer Amos Wako, who both represented Odinga at the Supreme Court. The Judicial Service Commission has already confirmed receipt of the two petitions.

Speaking earlier in a press conference, however, CJ David Maraga, who is also the chairman of the Judicial Service Commission has expressed fears that the Judiciary will not succumb to Specific individuals will in making judgements. He has also cited intimidation from top political leaders.
