You will no longer pay the high parking fees at JKIA, here is why

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has put on hold the new proposed car parking fee rates at Nairobis Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The Authority divulged that the rates had been suspended to allow for consultations with stakeholders.

Last week, Kenya Airports Parking Services (KAPS).said that the new rates would be implemented from 15 April 2018.

“The new rates come in place on 15th April, we are acting on a directive from Kenya Airports Authority who are our clients,” KAPS said in a statement.

According to the new parking fees, saloon car accessing the airport and parking for under 20 minutes would be charged Sh100.

Owners of saloon cars parked at the airport’s drop-off and pick-up zone for between 20 and 40 minutes would pay Sh250 while those parked for between 40 minutes and 1 hour would pay Sh350.

Those staying for up to two hours would pay Sh500 while those parking at the garage, terminal Two, cargo area it would cost Sh100 within 30 minutes, Sh150 between 30 minutes and an hour, Sh200 for between one hour and two hours.

It would cost Sh300 to park between two and four hours and Sh1,000 above 24 hours for saloon cars.

Those driving salon cars would pay Sh400 for parking between four and eight hours, Sh500 for between eight and 12 hours, Sh750 for between 12 and 24 hours. The same applies to trucks and buses.

As per the new rates it would cost Sh1, 000 one to have a car unclamped and replace a lost ticket.

“No vehicle shall be allowed to stay in the zone for two hours. Vehicles staying longer than two hours shall be penalised,” KAPS said in a notice.cars parked
