Contradicting details on missing plane emerge

What is happening at Aberdares?

However, several official statements from Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) and the airline seem to be giving the public contradicting details.

KCAA through Director General Gilbert Kibe confirmed that the flight registration number 5Y CAC was last seen on the radar at 2.02PM on Tuesday.

While FlySax divulged that the flight left Kitale for Nairobi at 4.05PM and the last communication it had with Jomo Kenyatta International Airport control tower was at 5.20PM.

The accounts given by KCAA and FlySax shows a glaring difference of up to 3 hours with regards to when the plane was last seen.

A spot check by Pulselive.co.ke revealed that a plane from Kitale to Nairobi takes a maximum of one hour.

At the same time, Flightradar24 - a Swedish internet-based service that shows real-time aircraft flight information on a map – divulged that it had no data on the flight 5Y CAC.

Agencies involved in the rescue operation say that poor visibility caused by bad weather has hampered the search.
