The Kenol area at Kabati is known to be a major blackspot that has witnessed several accidents in the recent past.

The locals appealed to the Kenya National Highways Authority to put appropriate measures in place to prevent further accidents in the area as the highway tends to become slippery especially during the rainy season contributing to vehicles losing control.

Police disclosed that the fatal accident involving the governor was caused by a tyre burst during heavy downpour that pounded the area early Tuesday morning.

On Wednesday, the government announced that the late governor will be buried on Saturday, November 18 and will be accorded a state funeral at his home county.

Three teams have been formed consisting of both the national and county governments as well as senior state officials, relatives and friends to oversee the funeral and burial arrangements of the late Gakuru.
