Kenyans On Twitter (KoT) blasted the University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter M.F.Mbithi over what they felt as an "insensitive" tweet by the universitys administration.
The administration tweeted that no student or lecturer died after alleged police alleged police brutality against students of the institution after protests over the arrest and detainment of former UoN student leader and now Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
However, this did not go down well with Kenyans who were angered by the institution's apparent laxity over the matter in the wake of circulation of amateur videos emerged on social media showing General Service Unit officers clobbering students in their halls of residence.

Angry Kenyans in particular blamed VC Mbithi for allowing police inside the university with some saying during his predecessor's tenure, no police gained entry into the institution.
