Ezekiel Mutua summoned to The Senate after controversial filming law

Sakaja Johnson- 'We Shall Repeal The Law'

KFCB Boss Ezekiel Mutua has recently come under fire over publishing filming license regulations that many term "archaic" and "backward" including Nairobi Senator, Sakaja Johnson.

Shortly after the Senator responded to criticism of his own stating that he has implemented more legislation for the youth than any other senator, Kenyans on Twitter brought to his attention the new regulations the KFCB boss has put forward.

According to the new rules, any Kenyans planning to film anything for public consumption are required to purchase a filming license. This includes social media and other internet videos.

The rules have been considered stifling to creativity and a form of censorship to prevent young people from generating content.

The Nairobi senator stated, "We shall repeal it. The creative industry is a much needed economic frontier for job creation. Such backward legislation is an unnecessary encumbrance."

Mutua tried to explain that the new law does not affect any videos posted on Youtube or Facebook but this is contradictory to what their social media spokesperson explained to concerned users.

Following the furore, Kenyans have called for the disbandment of KFCB and ousting of Ezekiel Mutua.

The hashtags #DisbandKFCBand #KFCBGoneTooFar have been trending on Twitter after it was announced that film makers will be required to acquire licenses by May 28th.

The Nairobi Senator has summoned the self-proclaimed moral policeman to The Senate.

Sakaja stated, "I have summoned them to the Senate next week together with other stakeholders so that we can agree on how to support the Creative Industry."
