KNEC issues statement after reports of exam cheating

This comes after reports indicated that there were plans to cheat in the forth coming National Examination

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has issued a statement after reports of planned cheating in KCPE and KCSE examination.

The examination council assured the country that preparations for the 2018 examinations are on track and all measures have been put in place to ensure examination materials are safe.

“The Council wishes to categorically state that, as has been the case in the last two years, all measures have been put in place to ensure that examination materials are safe and that no one will breach our enhanced security mechanisms at any point of the examination process. In this regard, the multi-agency approach of Examination administration will be scaled up,” said the statement signed by KNEC Acting CEO Dr. Mercy Karogo.

KNEC also warned parents and candidates not to be duped into purchasing any material said to be genuine examination questions.

“Parents are advised not to fall prey to schemes by unscrupulous people to fleece unsuspecting Kenyans,” read the statement.

Cheating plan

The statement comes after media reports revealed that cheating plans were hitting secondary schools, just months before the start of the national examination.

The reports said that some school heads were colluding with parents to collect money to buy national examination material to give to the candidates before the start of national examinations.
