A text message to Matiang'i lands man in police cell

The man is believed to be a resident of Gusii land.

The prosecution who appeared before Chief Magistrate Hellen Onkwami requested for five more days to complete the investigations.

The accused, who hails from Gusii land, in an affidavit filed by Police Officer Gerald Kamwaro, is being quizzed over a case of an alleged offense of threatening breach of peace contrary to section 95(1) of the penal code.

“Asusa was arrested and booked at Parklands Police Station by DCI officers attached to the criminal investigations bureau,” said Kamwaro.

The officer revealed that Dr Matiangi had reported the threat message matter to the DCI officers from the Investigations Bureau after he received the text via his mobile. Pulselive Kenya, however, could not access the content of the alleged message.

Kisii and Nyamira

The suspect, the court was told on Monday is believed to have acted in the company of others, who were not in court as they are still at large, presumably in Nyamira and Kisii Counties.

The prosecutor has pleaded with the court for the five days to facilitate a thorough scrutiny of the evidence which has extended to the verification of the suspects’ identity through Safaricom PLC, the service provider.

“The suspect is believed to have acted jointly with others still at large,” Mr Kamwaro told the court.

“In view of these compelling issues raised hereinabove, I pray this Honorable Court to allow the application and order the accused person to be remanded at Parklands Police Station for 7 days to complete investigations,” said Kamwaro quashing the possibility of bailing out the suspect in bond.
