Government reveals what will happen next after the rape saga at Moi girls High school as students return

Students to undergo special session following reports of rape at the school

A program released by the Ministry of Education indicate that students accompanied by their parents were expected to report and be registered by 2PM.

The parents will be allowed access to the dormitories up to 3PM to survey where their children will be living as the fear caused by recent rape allegations and fire incident linger in the background.

On Monday, a guidance and counselling session will be held for the students following the traumatic events that have happened in the school in the recent past.

A meeting will also be held at the school on Monday, bringing together parents, Ministry of Education officials and Teachers’ Service Commission officials.

Top on the agenda will be a discussion of the state of affairs at the school that has witnessed a fire incident which claimed 10 lives and a rape scandal in a span of less than a year.

Learning will resume on Tuesday with a new board of management taking over to run the institution.

On Saturday, Education CS Amb. Amina Mohamed appointed a nine-mber interim bard to take charge of the institution.

The board is made up of representatives of the Ministry of Education, Teachers’Service Commission and County government officials and is tasked with implementing a range of reforms as investigations ito the recent claims of rape continue.
