Abducted lawmaker found

The MCA had been reportedly abducted by heavily armed police.

Doctors have said the lawmaker is in stable condition even as speculations were rife on Sunday night that the MCA had been abducted  by Recce police.

Earlier,  details had emerged that  heavily armed recce squad police officers were behind the abduction of the MCA, Tiaty MP William Kamket had affirmed Sunday night.

Mr Kamket, who spoke few hours after the alleged abduction, claimed that heavily armed recce police, after a brutal treatment and arrest, did not book him at any police station, nor was he informed of why he was being arrested.

Armoured Police Vehicle

He narrated that, three men in civilian clothes, who were positively identified by the MCA’s driver, disembarked from the vehicle, blindfolded the MCA and forced him into one of the waiting cars, a Nissan Nevara, before speeding off towards Nakuru. The Nissan was escorted by an Armoured Police Vehicle.

“The driver of Hon Rotela positively identified the three police officers and the vehicle they were using. He gave us the number plate of the vehicle. The number pate is KCA 212P. Behind this vehicle was an Armed Personnel Carrier, APC, who else owns an APC? It is the police,” Mr Kamket said in an interview Sunday night.

He added: “They proceeded to the a police station in Mogotio after they went through a police roadblock where they identified themselves as recce police officers, and were allowed to pass."

Mr Lotela's abduction comes only days after a demonstration that interrupted the transportation of oil from Turkana County to Mombasa.

A similar abduction of Churo Amaya MCA, Thomas Minito that occurred in June last year, ended up with the death of the lawmaker with his body found three days after his abduction.

The Silale ward representative is said to have been abducted by three men at around 5.30pm on Sunday at Nginyang' River in Tiaty sub-county.

Baringo County Commissioner Henry Wafula has confirmed the incident, saying that security agencies have been activated to track the missing MCA. The MCA has since been airlifted to Nairobi for specialised treatment.
