The People’s Assembly Organising Committee, which was unveiled by NASA last week on Friday, has given an update on the progress of the December 12th plans.

According to the committee, they've had three meetings since its formation and the preparations for an important session of the People’s Assembly to be held on Jamhuri day are still on course.

The committee also condemned the arrest of Economist David Ndii, who is also their leader, announcing that they would not be intimidated by the Government.

"We condemn unreservedly the abduction, detention and subsequent arraignment in court on trumped up charges of Dr. David Ndii.

"The committee sees Ndii’s incarceration as a cowardly attempt by an illegitimate government to intimidate its members in particular and the Kenyan people in general, with a view to scuttle the People’s Assembly
,” the leaders of the group stated.

Ndii was arrested in Kwale County by flying squad officers and brought to Nairobi at DCI headquarters for questioning.

The vocal critic of the Jubilee Government was charged with inciting the public through a post on social media and an interview he had on TV.

He was later released on a police bond on Monday evening after DPP Keriako Tobiko ordered his immediate release.
