Police shootout leaves 4 dead along Thika Road

4 killed along Thika Road as police step up war on crime

Among the dead is a woman in estimated to be in her early twenties after suspected criinals defied police orders to stop, resulting in an exchange of fire.

One civilian succumbed to injuries sustained from a bullet fired by one of the gangsters who managed to escape.

The three were intercepted at Juja while making their way to Nairobi from Murang’a where they had allegedly shot and injured a person at Kenol.

Acting on a tip off, officers from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit trailed the gang that was travelling in a Toyota Belta.

The three are believed to be part of gang that has been terrorizing residents of Nairobi, Kiambu and Murang’a counties.

Juja OCPD Patrick Munyasia termed the incident a major breakthrough in the fight against crime and insecurity.

“A shootout ensued and three suspected gangsters were shot dead who included two men and a lady. The police officers recovered a Ceska pistol, a homemade pistol, few rounds of ammunition, and several sachets of medicine.” Munyasia said.

Police have launched a manhunt for the gangster who managed to escape so as to bring him to justice.

Carjacking has been on the rise along Thika Road with Juja and Ruiru recording the highest nimber of cases.
