The results comes a record 19 days after the exams were completed

President Uhuru Kenyatta issued the directive in preparation for free secondary education  that is expected to role out in January.

Speaking during the release of this year’s KCPE result, Matiang’i said that his ministry is working around the clock to ensure that they complete the placement by December 4, 2017.

“We hope to complete placement by 4th of December. I have firm instruction from the president that by Jamhuri Day every child should be placed in a school”  said Fred Matiang'i.

He added that all student who scored all the students who scored 400 marks and above will be placed in national schools whether they are from private or public schools.

The results comes a record 19 days after the exams were completed.

The fast release of the results was credited to the automated Optical Mark Recognition machines that fast-tracked the process.

The government acquired 20 modern scanning machines that improved the speed and accuracy when processing the examinations.

A total of 1,003,556 candidates sat for this year's KCPE across 28,566 examination centres across the country.
