Uhuru's Sh52 Million Lands Waiguru in Another Scandal

Is Waiguru in a fresh multi-million scandal?

Some leaders of the County want answers regarding a whopping Sh51.9 million raised to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta during the fresh presidential elections.

In a report by a local daily, the money was contributed by professionals and elected members but has not been accounted for to the letter.

According to the Kirinyaga residents, the money meant to campaign for Mr. Kenyatta could not have been used as intended.

“We want to be told where much of the cash went because only vehicles were branded and few campaign roadshows conducted. This is a scandal,” a Mr. Peter Kariuki from Mwea was quoted by the Nairobi News as saying.

However, Waiguru's communication person dismissed the remarks noting that they were total falsehood by the local paper.

The Governor highlighted that the total amount raised was not Sh52 million but Sh12 million.

The former Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary rallied members of Kirinyaga County and raised the Sh51.9 million in two days.

Ms. Waiguru told journalists that the locals sacrificed everything in order to see Mr. Kenyatta re-elected for a second term.

"We are taking this campaign very seriously and every resident should know that. We have sacrificed ourselves to raise this amount because we want the campaigns for our President in this region to be successful,” Waiguru earlier stated.

The Kirinyaga boss was among top governors who saw Mr. Kenyatta garner thousands of votes during the repeat polls.
