Cabinet Secretaries refuse to go to work ahead of Uhuru’s reshuffle

Matiang'i has however continued with his normal duties

President Kenyatta had allowed the CSs to take leave during the festive season, from December 22 and return after the New Year's holiday.

Many of the State Officials are fearful that they will not be retained after the President and his deputy William Ruto reorganize their cabinet.

Previous media reports have suggested that as many as eleven of Cabinet members are facing the sack which has led to poor morale in their respective ministries.

However, Education CS Fred Matiang’i, who also doubles up as the acting Interior Minister, has continued with his normal duties as a sign of his confidence in being retained.

Matiang’i is regarded as the Jubilee government’s ‘super servant’ and is widely expected to remain one of the two portfolios he currently holds.

Treasury CS Henry Rotich has also been active on given that his docket is critical in financing day-to-day government activities.

Transport CS James Macharia has also been making brief official appearances as his ministry has been on the spot over road carnage that has claimed over 200 lives since December. He also officiated the freight services on the SGR line underway.
