Sonko personally led the raid at the County Cash Offices following a tipoff from an anonymous source and found Tuesday’s revenue amounting to Sh7 million in cash with the county workers.

“It is unacceptable that yesterday’s collections running into millions of shillings in cash were still with the cashiers at 11am and yet the bank is only 50 meters away,” Sonko said.
The Governor was captured on camera interrogating a female City Hall worker in charge of banking the revenue collection on phone to ascertain why the money was still lying around the offices instead of being at the bank.
Sonko was accompanied by his deputy, Polycarp Igathe during the sting operation that seemed to have caught many at the offices offguard.

After the raid, Sonko ordered that the cash office be immediately install CCTV cameras at City Hall and instructed that monitoring of the same be done by his office, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
Sonko has hit the ground running in his new capacity as the Nairobi County boss.
His Sonko Rescue Team started cleaning the streets of Nairobi even before his swearing-in.
On Tuesday, Sonko sent senior board members of the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) because of mismanagement.
