Mohammed Ali reveals how Joho’s brother rigged ODM nominations

Nyali ODM parliamentary aspirant Mohammed Ali has revealed an elaborate plan executed by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s brother that eventually saw him “rigged out” of the party primaries.

Ali, popularly known as ‘Moha Jicho Pevu’ complained that the whole nomination exercise was massively flawed and skewed in favour of Joho’s brother Said Abdalla.

According to the final tally, Abdalla garnered 3671 votes against the former journalists Ali’s 2987 votes.

Speaking shortly after the vote count in Nyali, Ali said his stronghold areas failed to open in time while Abdalla’s conducted the voting on time and without any hitches.

According to Ali, out of the 15 polling stations in Nyali, he commanded the most votes in ten of them which failed to open at the scheduled time with some opening as late as 3pm in the afternoon when most of the voters had already left.

Ali also revealed how no indelible ink was used to mark those who had already voted thereby giving a leeway for some of Abdalla’s voters to vote more than once in across polling stations.

The former journalist also revealed how over 3000 ballot papers which had been ticked Joho’s brother was intercepted by police during the voting day; a clear indication of a massive rigging plot by Abdalla.

Ali said he sensed mischief after he failed to find his name on both the IEBC register as well as the ODM’s voter register when he went to his polling station which he had registered.

Ali said Joho’s family had agents in all polling stations where they were dishing out money to voters to influence their decision.

Ali now wants the ODM National Elections Board to nullify the results and award him the nomination certificate as he believes he won the primaries fair and square.

“I leave to the Almighty God what the Joho family did to me. God will reward me and their time will come,” Ali said.

He urged his supporters not to panic and worry and declared he will still be on the ballot come the August elections, triggering speculations that he might run as an independent for the Nyali parliamentary seat.
