Ababu Namwamba resigns from influential position
This is after his appointment as the CAS Foreign Affairs
Speaking at a delegates meeting held in Eldoret on Saturday, Ababu announced his resignation as the Labour Party of Kenya (LPK) party leader following his appointment as Foreign Affairs Ministry Chief Administrative Secretary.
"My appointment puts me in the position that I have to serve the nation. As a government appointment, I cannot continue to hold the party position," he said.
Ababu said that his decision to quit was in line with the Constitution and that his new job will require him to market the country abroad in most instances.
The former MP reiterated that he made the right decision leaving the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) for LPK and thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for his appointment.
He added that LPK supports the Presidents four pillars of development to move the country to the next level of growth which reflects the vision of the Labour Party and that they fully support him.
