NASA's agenda after Raila's swearing in and police crackdown

What NASA will be up to after Raila’s oath

Top legal minds in the party are ready for legal battles to defend their colleagues who were seized by the police for their participation in the controversial event.

Siaya Senator James Orengo and Otiende Amollo among others are expected to come through for NASA once again as they face state prosecutors in court to defend their comrades.

So far, Miguna Miguna, TJ Kajwang and George Aladwa have been guests of the state after the ceremony.

At the national front, the principals will be seeking to consolidate their support across the nation which was dealt a huge blow when some principals and a host of NASA legislators skipped the big event.

Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi attracted the wrath of NASA supporters after they skipped the event with some labelling them “betrayers and cowards”.

Raila Odinga has had to come to their defence on numerous occasions at press conferences as the principals face onslaught from opposition supporters.

Kalonzo stated that skipping the event was a strategic move by the coalition, adding that it was agreed that the principals would be sworn in in phases.

It is still not clear when Kalonzo will take his oath.

The member parties are also expected to retreat back to their respective parties with a series of meetings to keep their houses in order following the event that threatened to split NASA.

Wiper party will be the first to hold a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting scheduled for 06 Feb 2018 to deliberate on the party’s future and relationship with NASA following the ‘swearing in’.
