Raila receives boost after Abduba Dida's Announcement

Dida said Raila would beat Uhuru in a fair contest.

Presidential candidate Mohamed Abduba Dida has said he will support NASA leader Raila Odinga in the repeat elections scheduled to take place before November 1 after last week’s nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory by the Supreme Court.

In a statement, Dida revealed that he will not contest in the repeat presidential poll and instead pledged support for the former Prime Minister.

“Uhuru knows very well that he is a one-term president. I will not contest, I will support Raila Odinga, he means well for this great nation," announced Dida.

The Alliance for Real Change (ARC) leader reiterated that Odinga will defeat Kenyatta if the elections conducted in a free, fair and credible manner.

"From Uhuru Kenyatta's reactions after the Supreme Court ruling, even a class one kid will tell you that Raila Odinga will win the election in November if the election is free and fair,” stressed Dida.

Speaking at a Jubilee Party meeting at State House Nairobi after the ruling, Kenyatta criticised the judges’ decision and said he would return to the issue if elected.

He said: “We shall revisit this thing. We clearly have a problem. Who even elected you? Were you? We have a problem and we must fix it.” Kenyatta pointed out.

In August during the relaying of the election results at the Bomas of Kenya, Dida described Raila as patriot who had struggled for Kenya’s liberation and said he did not blame the NASA leader for disputing the results being displayed on national television.

According to IEBC figures, Dida came in fourth after Kenyatta, Odinga and Joseph Nyagah in the elections with 38, 004 votes.
