I still drink Chang’aa - Embakasi East MP confesses
Zoea raisi wako mapema - The 2027 presidential candidate has said
"There is no law in this country that prohibits Kenyans from consuming chang'aa. People should be allowed to enjoy their favourite drinks." He argued.
And at it turns out one of NASA’s most vocal politicians enjoys this drink. NASA’s Babu Owino has confessed that he enjoys the traditional drink Raila wanted to legalize. This is because of his humble background.
Speaking on 10/10 about how he grew up, Babu said “I remember we struggled so much.My mum used to sell chang’aa and she raised up through that and up to now I still drink Chang’aa because that is where I came from. It wasn’t a bed of roses.”
“Growing up in Nyalenda, times were hard as policemen would come and beat people in their houses. I could see my mum being whipped. I slept in Kisumu’s Central Police Station severally as I was, time and again, arrested for selling chang’aa. That was the only means that I could use to raise school fees. But through God’s work I managed and at least I am where I am now.” He revealed during an earlier interview on E Daily.
But he was not blinded by poverty and he managed to excel at Kisumu boys before he got a scholarship to join Millennium Academy for his A-levels before joining the University of Nairobi.
At UON, he became the SONU chairman where he served for one term before vying for a seat as Westlands MP at the age of 25 but he lost but that did not deter him from vying in 2022.
“God’s time is always the best, I had to wait.He said when speaking of his loss in Westlands and his Embakasi East MP win.
But he is not done yet, he is aiming for the big seat, the presidential seat.
“I have my plan well. In 2017 I knew I will become the Embakasi East MP, 2022 my plan is to go for Governor Nairobi and 2027 I will be your president. So zoea raisi wako mapema.” He added.
