Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has issued a strong message after High Court Judge Joseph Sergon nullified his win for the Parliamentary seat.

Speaking after the ruling, Mr. Owino blamed President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto for the loss stating that they had interfered with the Judiciary.

"The whole nation knows that this is a war of the President and Deputy President against Babu Owino. I have opposed them and now they are fighting back. The President is controlling the judiciary [sic],” Mr. Owino said.

Babu mentioned that he respects the ruling but will appeal the judge's decision at the Court of Appeal.

His lawyer Edwin Sifuna said: "We strongly disagree with the conclusion and the consequential orders. We do not believe that the analysis is proper according to the evidence presented. We have already started the process of appealing".

Mr Owino went further to challenge Mr. Kenyatta and Ruto stating: "If Uhuru and Ruto decide to vie in Embakasi East I will beat them".

The former Students Organization of Nairobi University (SONU) leader noted that he will not give up the fight and encouraged Embakasi East residents to sojourn on.

“What can’t kill you can only make you stronger. I am strong and no man can bring me down,” he said.

In the Friday ruling Judge Sergon said that violence, irregularities marred the election in Embakasi East and substantially affected the results.

The judge also nullified Mr Owino's election after substantial evidence proved that he coerced and intimidated IEBC returning officer to declared him the winner.
