Miguna's lawyer blames Raila-Uhuru handshake for trouble facing NRM general

One of the lawyers representing NRM self-styled Miguna Miguna has claimed that the Raila Odinga-Uhuru Kenyatta peace deal is one of the reasons behind his clients tribulations.

Ombeta stated that Miguna's opposition to the famous handshake could be the main reason why the state was heavily opposed to the general's return.

According to Ombeta, the Miguna attempted deportation was not based on any legal precedent and was merely political.

"This is political. Remember Miguna has opposed the handshake between Kenyatta and Odinga. Most of the people who welcomed him at the airport were saying the resistance should continue. It could well be that his position is contributing to the problem," Ombeta stated.

He added that the general's lawyers would move to court seeking for an order requiring the state to release Miguna.

The Nairobi lawyer complained that the NRM general was being illegally detained and had been denied access to his legal counsel.
