Jubilee to impeach sonko, Party's vice chairman reveals.
Murathe, termed Sonko's act of nominating lawyer Miguna Miguna as mere distraction, which would not derail Jubilee's plan of impeaching the Governor.
“Sonko is forestalling his impeachment which has nothing to do with the DG’s position but his administration’s dismal performance. He is covering up his mistakes by trying to divert attention. His nomination of Miguna is of no significance.
“The impeachment will proceed and it has to do with failures to deliver services to the people as was pledged by the party during campaigns. He can throw tantrums but they will have no consequence. We want action and not talking lies," Murathe was quoted by the Standard.
Murathe's admission could be an indicator that Sonko has fallen out of favour with top Jubilee officials including the Party's boss President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
Jubilee officials reject Miguna's nomination
On the other hand, Jubilee leaders led by National Assembly Leader Aden Duale and Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja have already rejected the nomination and advised Sonko to withdraw Miguna's name as Deputy IG.
"Miguna is not a member of the Jubilee Party. We have told Sonko that the only time he can take a name to that Assembly (County) is after consulting with the party leader - the President," Duale told Pulselive.co.ke in a telephone interview.
Sakaja also tweeted," Miguna will not become the Deputy Governor of Nairobi. Take that to the bank.”
Hours after the nomination, Miguna tweeted, "Mr. @MikeSonko and I have not spoken, met or communicated since our gubernatorial debate in July 2017. I will not comment on malicious information, material or cheap propaganda circulating in the social media. Thank you. "
Sonko accuses Interior PS Karanja Kibicho of trying to sabotage him
The Governor has on several occasions accused Interior PS Karanja Kibicho of trying to sabotage his work in Nairobi, allegations the latter denied and told Sonko to focus on service delivery to Nairobi residents.
During an interview, Sonko without mentioning names, alleged that a senior Government official had predicted his death.
It now remains to be seen whether Sonko will withdraw Miguna's nomination as his problems with Jubilee seem to be escalating.
