Raila warned not to set foot in this county

ODM last week attempted to remove Wetangula from Minority leaders position in the Senate

Outspoken, first-time Kimilili MP Didymus Barasa warned Mr Odinga over the weekend not to go to Bungoma if ODM party makes real it’s earlier threat to have Mr Wetangula ousted from the senate leadership.

The MP who spoke at a fundraising at Machakha Primary School in Tongaren constituency, warned the Raila Odinga led party against undermining other parties in the coalition.

“As leaders of Western Kenya we have welcomed the move by Raila to work with the President,” the Jubilee MP said.

Barasa said Wetang’ula has helped NASA make big strides in Western and should not be despised, even after the Senator earlier affirmed that an attempted splitting of Nasa would be messy.

"If anyone wants to divorce it will be noisy, messy, and unhelpful and it will have causalities. I'm not going anywhere. I was not invited to NASA but I'm a founder," said Mr Wetang'ula in the Senate Thursday last week.

DP Ruto

The MP further clarified that the Western region could be voting for DP Ruto, who is touted as the successor of President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2022 race.

“From history we know our late brother Kijana Wamalwa walked with Raila and got hurt. He wants to do the same to Wetang’ula. We will not allow that. Our community will not be belittled,” he said.

Last week Thursday, 16 ODM senators wrote to Speaker Kenneth Lusaka seeking to have Wetang’ula replaced with Siaya Senator James Orengo.

Mr Lusaka, however, told NASA to ensure that it procedurally elects Orengo to the position before the switch can take effect.

"The removal of Senator Moses Wetang’ula as Senate Minority Leader though valid, stands suspended and will not take effect unless and until a Senator has been elected by the NASA Coalition in the manner provided by Standing Order 20(1) has occurred and the communication to that effect together with the minutes evidencing that decision has been made in writing, to my office by the Senate Minority," speaker Lusaka ruled, after 16 ODM senators signed the petition to oust Wetang'ula.
