Nasa leader Raila Odinga also attended the burial.
Speaking during the burial of the former Minority leader in Kyondoni Village, Kitui County, Mrs Ngilu told off the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to instead use the money intended for the by-election to fund water projects.
“I have heard what Kitui West wants, Edith Nyenze you will carry this seat in your shoulder and I will campaign for you. Hiyo pesa IEBC mnataka kutumia mtupe tuwekee wananchi maji,” the former Lands CS told mourners.
While IEBC had not given out a clear plan for the by-election following the death of Mr Nyenze, it is expected that the polls agency would hold a by-election in less than six months after the death of the MP.
Meanwhile, other Nasa affiliated leaders who attended the burial of Mr Nyenze in Kyondoni Village, Kitui County urged President Kenyatta to hold talks with Nasa leader Raila Odinga
Led by Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, they urged two leaders to talk to end the political stalemate that has characterised Kenya for over eight months.
“Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga sit and talk for the sake of our country,” Mr Wamalwa told mourners in Kyondoni Village, Kitui County
