Farida Karoney poaches 2 Citizen TV bosses, awards them with plum gov't jobs

The Lands CS previously worked at Citizen TV

Lands Cabinet Secretary Farida Karoney has poached two senior editors from her former employer - Royal Media Services.

Karoney is reported to have picked Peter Opondo and Nixon Nganga and awarded them senior positions at Arthi House.

Opondo previously served as an editorial consultant for Royal Media Services while Ng'ang'a served in the same company as Managing Editor.

The two quit their jobs last month, just weeks after the Lands CS was approved for the Cabinet position.

Rachel Ruto is no stranger to making bold yet elegant fashion statements, but during the state visit of the Dutch royals on March 18, 2025, it wasn’t just her outfit that stood out—it was her shoes. The Kenyan First Lady stepped out in a pair of brown suede block heels adorned with a gold emblem.

It is not clear the exact roles Opondo and Nga'ng'a will be undertaking at the Ministry of Lands but they are largely expected to serve in the Communications Department.

Since taking office, Karoney has introduced the new Lands Information Management System (LIMS) which was rolled out on Tuesday.

LIMS is expected to enhance service delivery at Arhi Houses by allowing the public to carry out various transactions through online platforms.
